I'm still working on the PENSINGER family that lived in and around Crawford Co., OH. They were originally from Franklin Co., PA. There were a lot of PENSINGERs that were in OH. as early as 1850. Some moved on after the Civil War. By 1900 there are very few left. I would like to hear from anyone that is working on this family. I will share what I have.

Hello, I am researching the COUTS family from Crawford County, Ohio. I am interested in records that will help me with my DAR application. My ggg grandfather was Christian COUTS who served three years in the American army during the Revolutionary war. He was of Scotch descent and moved with his family to Crawford County in 1821. His son Henry COUTS born July 4, 1810 in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania had several children, one of which is my g grandmother Barbara COUTS who married Jacob SHOOP. They moved from Crawford County, Ohio to Lincoln County, Kentucky where my grandmother Lela SHOOP was born and married my grandfather Oscar REYNOLDS. I am interested in any records of births, marriage, or death records from these names. I will help anyone who needs information from Hardin County, Kentucky. Thank you, Carol Ferguson P.O. Susan VANVORHEES was married to Hiram JONES and living in Crawford County, OH, as indicated by the 1850 US Census. Susan and Hiram had 9 children at the time, including my gg-grandfather, Townsend Roe JONES. Other siblings were: Eliza, Ursula, Samantha, Orson, Jefferson, Sarah, Alice, and Charles. Eliza was age 18 for the 1850 census. I suspect Susan VANVORHEES and Hiram JONES got married apprx. 1832. Both Susan and Hiram were born in Pennsylvania. I could not make out the ages of Hiram and Susan on the census. E-mail me if you have a connection or can provide any further information (especially about when/where married or dates of birth) on this couple. Uriah Washington LANTZ, son of George who died 1858 in Crawford Co, OH. Uriah left Crawford Co, OH after he finished the administration of his father's estate. He was not there in 1859 when his mother died, and his minor sister Ellen C. picked as her own guardian the new administrator, REISINGER. Uriah re-married in IN, probably in Noble Co, IN to Elena TAYLOR, daughter of Wm TAYLOR & E. WILDMAN who were from CT, as his 2nd wife. What happened to his first wife and two children who were born before 1870? Did they die in Crawford Co? Elena died in Noble Co, IN in 1904 while on a visit there to relatives. Carroll Co, MD papers listed her obit and said she had relatives in MD.[obviously not true] Uriah was a court clerk in Barnes Co, ND. He apparently left no heirs. Ellen C LANTZ was 16 in 1859; looking for a marriage for this woman. Trudie Davis-Long PO Box 52, Monrovia, MD 21770-0052
