CALDWELL, FOX, KAISER, PLACE, WELCH, WELSH posted by Pat O'Toole on Wednesday, June 11, 1997

CALDWELL Seeking parents of Charles A. CALDWELL born 4 June 1862 Galion, Crawford Co., OH. Family information (fact or fiction?) : Charles, as a young child, was placed under the guardianship of persons yet unknown, and was raised by this couple. His father, who died when Charles was very young, probably served in the Civil War and his death a result of war related injuries. Charles had one known sister, Maud, who was was very close to Charles in age. Maud remained with their mother, who later married a PLACE. Family members only remember her as Grandma PLACE. Daisy, who was the daughter of Grandma PLACE or Maud, married a KAISER. The name WELSH/WELCH is also connected, perhaps Daisy's daughter married a WELSH. Charles supposedly grew up in the Galion area and as a young man taught school for three years. Little is known of his life in the 1880's. By 1893, he was in Hancock Co., employed at a pottery and married to Mettie Ann FOX. Grandma PLACE and Maud lived in the Columbus area in the early 1900's. I have corresponded with the descendants of both CALDWELLs and PLACEs from Crawford Co. The Crawford Co. Genealogical Society has tried to assist me in my search. I would be interested in hearing from anyone researching the above names. I could use any help!
