BUTTS, COOK, HALDERMAN, KIESS posted by Carolyn Vance on Thursday, June 10, 1999

Hi, all! I'm trying to find out more about my great-great grandparents, who were married Oct 3, 1875 in Crawford County. Does anyone know if there is any sort of way to find the names of their parents from marriage records? The ones from the courthouse don't have them listed. But along that line... how would I find out what church Rev. ?R. C. M. HALDERMAN was at, and if that church has records dating back that far with parents' names? Marion Adelbert BUTTS, born. 1850 in Michigan to Solan and Reveca BUTTS of New York married Christina KIESS (?born 1845 Williamsport PA) to Jacob KIESS and Female COOK. I have found a Jacob COOK in Crawford County in 1844... father of Simeon, who could be Christina's brother Simeon, so the Williamsport PA bit is in doubt. And a first marriage at age 30 seems fishy too. Thank you in advance for any help! I would love to hear from anyone researching these names. Carolyn Vance

I recently found on the online I.G.I. page that there was a Levi CASKY (and he's about the only one I think) married Rebecca DALE on 3 Sep 1837 Stark Co Oh. Rebecca must have died or divorced before Levi moved to Crawford b/c he married 2nd to Elizabeth STOSE on 4/24/1852.

In 1840 John Henry and his wife live in Clarendon Twp Marion OH, and in the 1850 census, they live in Whetstone Twp Crawford OH. The BOGENs might have first come to Middletown, Frederick Co MD area, where Friderich Andreas' children were christened. In 1818 a son is born PA. Perhaps they were enroute in 1816 when their son Samuel was born b/c I have found records that he was born in both MD and PA. They later moved to Lovettsville Loudon Co VA by 1824. My line is through Samuel. They were in Stark Co OH and married 1837. This line then moved west to Crawford Co OH.
