- Seeking researchers familiar with a related group of families who lived around Galion between 1840 and 1860 and came from the district of Wittgenstein in Germany. Family names included RIEDESEL, ALTHAUS, HOMRIGHAUSEN, and DUERR/DERR/DURR. They were of the German Reformed faith. By 1860, all that I know of had moved on to eastern Iowa. The first known immigrants came in 1844 but I wonder if they were preceded by others. Paul Riedesel paul@riedesel.org
