SEITZ posted by Laura on Tuesday, July 11, 2000

Is anyone researching Philip SEITZ and his wife Elizabeth "Betsy"? I know they were born in Pennsylvania -- I have a little on their ancestry -- and I know that they were in Crawford County on 19 January 1850, when they signed a legal document having to do with some property back in Pennsylvania. They would each have been about 50 years old then. I would appreciate a census lookup if anyone has the 1850 (or other) census handy, and I would enjoy hearing from any relatives of Philip and Betsy SEITZ. Thanks for your help Laura

She married John BYRNE (BYRON) (born 10-19-1797 New Ross, Wexford, Ireland) on 6-8-1818 in either Ohio or Pennsylvania. She died at Bucyrus, Ohio on 3-2-1848. A story handed down in our family states that Mary's father, reportedly the "Duke of Bridgewater", disinherited Mary for "marrying a commoner." I throw this in in case it rings any bells.
