HEIBY, LINN posted by John C. Heiby on Sunday, April 2, 2000

Subject: Jacob LINN My father's mother's grandfather Philip LINN (24 Jun 1801- 19 Nov 1883) was born in the Alsace. I do not know where. I do not speak French, but German would be no problem. Where would I search on the internet (in German or English) to locate Philip LINN. I do know that my father's parents spoke German at home until it was politically incorrect after WWI and WWII. My father was given a French first name that he Anglicized to Raymond. John C. HEIBY, 2nd Great-grandson of Philip LINN

GEORGE posted by Kathleen George Bryan on Monday, April 3, 2000

According to family journals: "Philip GEORGE was born about 1757 in England, arrived in New York in 1773, moved to Lehigh County, PA about 5 years later; married in 1779. Served in the Revolution. Had 10 children. Then....he and his daughter Polly came to Ohio and got a homestead in Crawford County, near Bucyrus. He returned home and brought two of his sons, Mike and Jonas. He spent several years there. Philip later returned to Allentown, Lehigh County, PA where he died while digging a well when it caved in. Polly, Jonas and Mike remained in Crawford County, Ohio. If we knew them no doubt some of their descendants live there yet." Some of Philip's children are documented as being born between 1793 and 1805. If these three were old enough to travel to Ohio with him we are "guessing" it would have probably been between 1810 and 1850. His son, John GEORGE was in the War of 1812, so it may have been even later...maybe closer to 1820. We do not have exact dates on these three children of Philip's. Desperately looking for descendants of Philip GEORGE more specifically, his three children, Mike GEORGE, Jonas GEORGE and Polly GEORGE. Has anyone else run across any GEORGEs born between 1793 and 1805 who died in Crawford County, OH who might be related to Philip GEORGE? These three children of Philip's and their descendants have rather dropped off the face of our family tree. Thank you. SHEEN, SHEHAN, SHEHEN posted by Marilynn VanBrocklin on Saturday, April 8, 2000

Looking for information on my ancestors named SHEEN, SHEHEN, SHEHAN. They left Holmes county after 1840 and traveled to Putnam County. My Grandfather was named Milton, born 1839). He may have been traveling with family thru Crawford County. He was listed in 1840 with William SHEEN who I believe was his father. On the 1850 & 1860 Census Milton was listed with a William D. SHEHEN in Putnam County This consisted of other aged sibllings than was on the 1840 Census. So his father may have died. Have not been able to find any information on them between 1840 and 1850. There may have been others named Thomas,& James Shehen ? and Rachel (Matthew) Jordan. If someone is able to help me, I would appreciate it. I am at a stalemate for info in this 10 year period. I have not been able to identify David's parents, nor his whereabouts before 1851 when he married Elizabeth SHAFFER (NO N maiden name), in Preble Co OH. Perhaps if I could find out when and how he acquired the Auburn Twp land, it would give me a clue. Might even help if I could find out when and how he got rid of the land. If anyone has access to this info I would appreciate a lookup. Jim Lewis, Seguin TX
